How and when to take your blood pressure

  • Sitting down quietly with your arm leaning against a table
  • After being at rest for 5 minutes
  • 30 minutes after physical activity (for example, a long walk)
  • 1 hour after drinking coffee or a product containing caffeine, after eating a stimulant such as chocolate or after smoking
  • 2 hours after a meal.
