1

Cover your hair.

Cover your hair to protect it from the cold, wind and snow. If tuques and hoods make your hair go all staticky and wild, try wearing a silk scarf under your hat of choice. The silk will help cut down much of the static.

Thoroughly dry your hair before going outside.

It might seem pretty obvious, but it bears repeating: don’t go outside in winter with wet hair! And it’s not because you’ll catch cold, either—that’s a myth—but because you can damage your hair. The water in your hair will freeze making it more fragile and vulnerable to breakage. Be sure that your hair is thoroughly dry before going outside. Try washing your hair at night so it can dry completely overnight.

3

Hydrate!

Even if you don’t usually use moisturizing hair products, you should definitely add a moisturizer to your winter hair care routine. Choose a conditioner that works with your hair type (dry, normal, oily, treated, etc.) and use it every time you wash your hair. If you’re not sure what you need, ask your hairdresser or your Brunet cosmetician for advice. Also, during the winter months, apply a moisturizing hair mask once a week to revitalise and repair. This type of treatment deeply conditions the hair follicles and helps protect it against the hot/cold effect that can cause dehydration and breakage.

4

Replenish!

Believe it or not, beautiful hair starts with a balanced diet. Healthy foods provide your hair with essential nutrients to keep it beautiful and healthy. Omega 3, contained in tuna,

herring, mackerel, nuts, etc., for instance, nourish and repair hair. Also, lean meats (chicken, for example), fish, dairy products and eggs, are excellent sources of protein that work to keep hair follicles strong. And all these foods are rich in iron, a very important mineral for healthy hair. Finally, remember to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. They’re chock-full of vitamins essential for healthy, shiny hair.
