The risk of contracting some illnesses can increase when we visit other countries. Luckily, many can be prevented through vaccination.
There are basic vaccines that everyone should have received before travelling in order to prevent some diseases such as:
- Hepatitis B
- Pertussis (whooping cough)
Hence, it is important to make sure your vaccination record is up to date before you leave.
Other vaccines may be necessary, depending on the country visited. These can include vaccines against:
- Hepatitis A
- Traveller’s diarrhea (turista)
- Typhoid fever
- Japanese encephalitis
- Yellow fever.
If a vaccine requires several doses, a delay may sometimes be required between each dose. Plan out your vaccination at least six weeks before departure.
