Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) causes a respiratory tract infection that can lead to serious health complications. RSV is highly contagious, and most often appears from late fall to early spring. The virus presents as a common cold, but can develop into pneumonia, bronchiolitis and other respiratory infections.

A vaccine is now available to prevent this virus and is authorized for people aged 60 and over.
