Tuberculosis (TB) is an infection caused by a bacterium that affects the respiratory system. It may be present in a latent or active way. The latent form is not contagious but may become active over time. The person with the active TB form quickly becomes contagious and may cough, be feverish, feel fatigue, have night sweats, etc. The infection can also affect other organs, such as bones, kidneys. The Quebec Immunization Protocol recommends vaccinating people at increased risk of TB infection.

The pharmacy nurse can prescribe and administer the vaccine.
