How to fight against wrinkles

Just say no to wrinkles!

Unfortunately, we can’t stop the aging process. As early as our late twenties, we begin to look in the mirror nervously, afraid to find those unwanted lines known as wrinkles that remind us that time is passing. In today’s world, where so much value is placed on eternal youth, wrinkles are a dreaded sign that we’re getting older.

But you can fight back!

There are ways to push back the appearance of wrinkles, and lessen them when they begin to set in.

How to fight against wrinkles

Where wrinkles come from

From a technical standpoint, a wrinkle is the result of a break in the skin. The break itself results from a weakening of skin structures that are made up mainly of two proteins: collagen and elastin. Production of these proteins gradually slows down over time, allowing wrinkles to form.

Both proteins work hand in hand, so to speak, to keep skin looking youthful, with collagen providing resilience and elastin ensuring elasticity.

The factors that cause wrinkles to appear

There are three leading factors that cause skin aging, including loss of firmness and the appearance of wrinkles:

  1. Hormones: their levels shift with age – especially at menopause – which has an impact on the production of collagen and elastin.
  2. Lifestyle: stress, smoking, unhealthy eating habits, and not getting enough sleep – these are all factors that affect how your skin looks.
  3. Sunlight: ultraviolet rays, whether from the sun or tanning salons, speed up skin aging.

How to prevent wrinkles

Healthy lifestyle choices can help you slow down the emergence of future wrinkles and reduce existing wrinkles.

  • Eat healthy foods, get enough sleep, don’t smoke, and avoid excesses.
  • Never go out without adequate sun protection.
  • Use anti-wrinkle creams.

How do anti-wrinkle creams work?

Dermocosmetic anti-wrinkle creams work deep down in the skin where collagen and elastin proteins are found. They help to rebuild tissue and strengthen the skin’s structure.

There are three layers of skin: the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis. Dermocosmetic products – including anti-wrinkle products – contain fine molecules that penetrate beyond the surface layer of the skin to the dermis for optimal effectiveness.

And anti-wrinkle serums?

Serums contain nearly the same active ingredients as creams but in greater concentration. Given their more liquid texture, they have to be used in combination with cream. Be sure to apply the serum first and then the cream.

The combined effect of serum and cream is the best approach in the fight against wrinkles.

Choosing the right products?

For effective anti-wrinkle care, choose high-quality products that are right for you, your age, and your skin type and condition. And be sure to speak with our cosmeticians; they can help you make the right choice.
